Sugars, we prefer to do without! What exactly is the deal with sugar in peanut butter? No peanut butter is completely sugar-free, peanuts naturally contain about 6% sugar. I always thought that natural sugars were healthier, but I didn't know exactly why. The reason that refined sugars are unhealthy is due to the production process. The sugar beet is processed in a factory by heating, centrifuging and drying it several times. Calcium hydroxide and carbon dioxide are also added. What remains is refined sugar from which all the fibres, vitamins and minerals have disappeared. That's a shame because your body can use it well! After eating refined sugar, two things happen: 1. Your blood sugar level rises because it has no fibres that gradually release the sugar. Then your blood sugar level drops rapidly. Just think how tired you were as a child after a lot of sugar! 2. Your body can no longer find the vitamins and minerals. In order to process the sugar, the vitamins and minerals are taken from healthy cells. With a possible vitamin deficiency as a result. Refined sugars are added to most peanut butters. Sugar activates the reward centre in your brain, just like drugs, which is why it is so addictive. Food manufacturers take advantage of this. Supermarket peanut butters often add sugar to peanut butters, especially peanut butters with peanut pieces to make them crunchy. Read the ingredients list to see if there are sugars in your peanut butter!
Natural sugars
Peanut butter without refined sugars also contains sugar. However, in exactly the right amount of fiber, vitamins and minerals to gradually absorb and process the sugar into your blood. That's how nature intended it and it works perfectly! Choose one of our peanut butters without chocolate or caramel, then you know for sure that there is no grain of refined sugar in it. : ) In short, all peanut butters naturally contain sugar. The natural sugar is a lot better for your body because the sugar is released in a controlled manner and not abruptly as with refined sugars. Many supermarket peanut butters contain refined sugar, so read the ingredients list on the label carefully. Our peanut butters are free from added sugars in 7 flavors.
