https://depindakaaswinkel.nl/?p=110505 Very first 100% Dutch peanut butter
In collaboration with Vini Mini and farmer Anniek, we have developed Dutch Peanut Butter . A project that should ensure fewer people, both adults and children, with a peanut allergy, even more brilliant peanut butter and a healthy future for farmers in the Netherlands.
Anniek 's Peanuts
Dutch Peanut Butter starts with Anniek Huijbregts from Reusel. Her family has been growing potatoes, onions and vegetables for years. That's going well, but the market for it is limited. Anniek wants to look for a model that is more future-proof. Enterprising as she is, she thinks of peanuts. They grow naturally in countries such as China, Argentina and the US, but that's also where corn originally comes from and you see that everywhere in Europe now. Peanuts have another advantage: they are very good for the soil. It is a papilionaceous plant, and they are known for their nitrogen fixation. Anniek herself is also fond of nuts and peanuts, so she decides to take a chance. After a test in her vegetable garden, she plants a hectare full of six different varieties of peanuts in 2020. Two of the six are successful, and although the harvest is limited, the experiment is a success.
Peanut butter baby
Vini Mini would like to use the Dutch peanuts from the 2021 harvest in their baby products. In their fight against food allergies in children, they are looking for premium peanuts with the smallest possible ecological footprint and as few heavy metals and aflatoxin as possible. Aflatoxin is a fungus that mainly occurs in tropical countries such as Argentina and China. By giving children these super safe peanuts at a very young age, up to 80% of later allergies can be prevented. Peanut allergies can lead to life-threatening reactions and put a great strain on healthcare and society. Vini Mini contributes to a healthy, happy and carefree life for mothers and their Minis in the first 1000 days.
Benefits of Dutch peanuts
We ourselves are bouncing with enthusiasm. Dutch peanuts fit in well with our business objectives. In this way, we give farmers a prospect of a healthy future, and cultivation can contribute to the balance of natural agriculture. Great. Doing it ourselves also means that we are no longer dependent on the uniformity on the world market. How great would it be if you could grow unique varieties yourself, especially for peanut butter? Especially in the Netherlands, no one eats more peanut butter than we do. Growing, drying, storing, mixing peanut butter yourself: the possibilities would be endless and the world would be full of brilliant jars of the tastiest peanut butter.
Want to try it for free?
The peanuts from the first harvest are peeled by hand and roasted in the oven at home. It is still too little to sell per jar, but everyone can come and taste the first Dutch peanut butter for free in one of our stores .
